Monday 14th November

The rowing at the weekend in St John was a great success with Sally Ward again on hand to offer advice and guidance. Lesley enthused about the calming effect of rhythmically rowing across the water. Paul wants to help standardise the commands the coxes use. The boat was beautifully cleaned out by Geoff and Paul when it was returned to the shed.

Paul and I started today by sanding the primer on boat 2 ready for its first coat of gloss. Paul also sanded the footrests and the rudder while I went out for more masking tape and to check on the trailer that was being slightly modified by Dan at Denmark Mobile Welding.

Paul sanding to perfection.

Harry and Lesley joined us for morning tea and fruit cake. Lesley was on call for St John Ambulance and couldn’t stay to paint.

Sanded and taped up ready to paint.

While I was painting old friends dropped in to have a look at what is keeping me busy in my retirement. Adriana and Brian had been at the Albany show selling their delicious lamb satay from their mobile kitchen in a converted horse float.

Opal white.

At the end of the day the first coat of opal white gloss had covered the hull and was looking good. More painting tomorrow unless you want to go rowing with Sally.

Cheers Dave
