Saturday 5 November What a day! Thank you to all those who came and made this a memorable occasion. They emerge from Harry and Kay’s wonderful shed, shiny and new. An empty shed. Displayed in the centre of Denmark The unpainted boat 2 got all the attention. Ready to move locations following Tom the piper. Procession through town following Tom. The boats were towed to the river mouth then processed into the River Mouth Caravan site and the boat ramps. We had waited for the rowing parties to catch up. Boats of all shapes and sizes had come from near and far. Denmark Dragon boats helped swell the noise and create a spectacle. At the river mouth the Denmark Yacht Club supplied a sausage sizzle. While St John was readied for the launch. Speeches were made, Here is Sally Ward from Nairn Coastal Rowing. The boat was anointed with single malt whisky from the Isle of Islay. A large crowd gathered to watch the launch and the bagpipes played. Yes the bungs were in. St John was launched and we worked out how to get into the boat and set up the oars. Rowing positions worked out. We did it! Lesley and Veronica and Adrian celebrating being out on the Wilson Inlet. The visiting skiffs took up stations. Lesley, Veronica, Adrian and myself were coxed by Clem. We got the hang of rowing gently amongst the pelicans as did the second crew. Brilliant!
