Wednesday 26 October
It was a quiet day in shed except for all the noise I was making with the orbital sander. Two orbital sanders to be precise. One with a coarse paper on it to knock off the remaining glue and filler lumps and one to do the polishing up ready for a resin coat, hopefully tomorrow. JP visited briefly on his way to Albany to do the contra deal with the Southerly, a bottle of Shiraz for an advert.
JD had been in the shed yesterday evening delivering the second rudder with pintles attached. Today he came in and faired the mounting pads I had glued on yesterday and fitted the gudgeons onto the stern post.
To have a break from the sanders I cut the bow stem down to the same shape as boat 1 in the traditional Faering boat manner.
At the end of the day my wrists were aching as was my back and my ears were ringing but its been worth it getting the final sand of the planks ready for a coat of resin tomorrow.
Cheers Dave
