A weather window for applying 3 resin coats to Boat 2 has opened up. The forecast is for three days of warmish weather. JP and I decided to go for it and I checked with a couple of others to see if they were available to help and luckily Veronica was. When I arrived at the shed at 10.30 JP had already been there for a while as evidenced by the nearly completely re-sanded hull using his whiz bang orbital sander. He had found that he had missed one of the screw holes when he was plugging them yesterday so the first step was to plug it. I sanded the stems and keel by hand to give a bevel edge to them after finding the router was a bit too aggressive. Then I cleaned up while JP mixed the first batch of resin. He had wisely put the resin container in a bucket of hot water so that it would flow through the pump easier and quicker. We broke out a new roller and paint brush and set to with JP rolling and me tipping off with the paint brush. Veronica arrived and took over from JP and straight away I noticed an improvement in the quality of the application. JP relegated himself to mixing duties and kept the resin coming. The rest can be seen in the following pictures. I realised that this isn’t something you could do with others around you creating dust so we will leave it to late in the work shift tomorrow.
Another coat tomorrow.
Cheers Dave
