Monday 31 October

I dropped round to Denmark Mobile Welding on my way in and saw the trailers waiting for licence plates. Dan wasn’t there so I went back later and caught up with him. He just needs to make brackets to hold the wooden benches in place and get me the paperwork for getting the rego at the shire offices.

In the shed I was joined by Mark and Paul. I gave mark the job of cutting down the second set of oar blades and then painting them with the two pack primer. He did a great job and so now we have two sets of oars, one set with old sleeves and collars in places that probably need to move and one set waiting to see if the new sleeves turn up in the post this week.

White blades.

Paul with his usual thoroughness finished the sanding of the first coat of resin inside boat 2 while I reamed the rowlock pin holes in boat 1 so that the rowlocks all set down at the top of the rowlock blocks.

Paul had brought in a delicious date, nut and chocolate cake that we scoffed during tea break. He had baked it himself.

Great cake today, curtesy of pastry chef Paul.

We then got into painting on the second coat of resin.

Beanies covering up the baldies today.
Mark’s beanie was particularly colourful.
It was hard work spreading the cold viscous resin thinly enough to not have it run later.
Beautiful job!

When we have the trailers we will need to lift boat 1 onto one and take it to Denmark Signworks for naming. I’ll put out a call for lifters then.

Cheers Dave
