Thursday 6th October

I checked on Dan at Denmark Mobile Welding this morning to see if things were moving on the trailer and trolley construction front. He was in the process of ordering parts and said he would be working over the weekend to build them.

At the shed I started by cutting the ends of the next set of gunwale battens. Veronica and JP got into sanding the underside of the glued in blocks and preparing for the last of the filleting. John I had the job of sanding the paintwork on boat 1 ready for its next coat.

John I sanding the rudder ready for the top coat.

Adrian took on the task of making supports for the cox’s seat in boat 2. To do this he had to explore how they were made in boat 1 by diving under the boat.

Adrian planing the intricate shapes into the seat supports.

JP had stopped at Denmark Bakery on his way in to pick up a sumptuous morning tea of scones and carrot cake.

Plenty left for tomorrow.

After a lengthy break because we were enjoying the rest we started painting and filleting.

First coat of top coat goes on.
Much later its all done.

Veronica had to get into the boat to finish the filleting.

Filleting finger at the ready.

At 1pm we broke for a committee meeting with the main discussion point being the Launch Day. Geoff does a much better job than I of chairing the meeting and volunteered to do the minutes, thanks Geoff.

Committee meeting – not exactly a boardroom setting.
We left a plank for a green band.

JP and I will be back in tomorrow to give it a second coat. All welcome.

Cheers Dave
