JB dropped me and two boxes of new Denmark Rowers fleecies at the shed as we are still having car troubles with our Subaru Outback. There was a big roll up of the regulars and I handed out the fleecies which had been ordered and we had a group photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After we had put our new fleecies away Dr John got into the final shaping of the bow stem while Nick planed the other side of the keelson with a jack plane to avoid the noise and the dust. Lesley and Veronica tackled the sanding of the inside of boat 1. JP added more blocks to the moulds to clamp the planks in place as we go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We welcomed to the shed today our newest Member, John I from Albany. JP and I were very impressed by the fact that he had been on the boat building course at Franklin in Tasmania and built an Oughtred boat in Huon pine. He joined Veronica and Lesley sanding who were also helped by Geoff B up until it was time for tea break. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lesley had spoilt us by bringing in Tim Tams and Venetian biscuits which went down well. All of us have now congratulated her on being awarded an Order of Australia for her volunteer work with Muscular Dystrophy and St John Ambulance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefan visited us as Lesley and Nick finished the fitting of the stem to the keelson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Veronica mixed up some glue to fill temporary screw holes in the frames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inside of the hull is ready for filleting now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Archie is still to be convinced.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

On Monday there will be more work to do on the stern stem and then we’ll be ready to glue the keelson to the stems and the frames. We can fillet boat 1’s plank lands with thickened epoxy resin and start work on scarfing the garboard planks for boat 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow I’m taking the wood for the gunwales over to Pete Wilson’s shed so we can cut it into the laminates we need to bend it around the outside of the boats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
