JP scarfed the battens and glued them into place on the keelson after he had put Sebastian back in the car.

Glueing the battens to fill the slots on the keelson.

Meanwhile Lachy marked up the stems for the bevel to receive the planks from a seated position. To do this I used a multi tool with a coarse reciprocating sanding disc and a batten to get the angles right. I managed to do the first two plank lands.

We had a visit from Roger who brought his knowledge and a very impressive plane set and sharpening tools and leant us a small but weighty block plane.

Roger’s beautiful tool set.

Lachy marked up the scarf lines of the first planks and after he had left I had a quick play with the planks on the frames that I had bevelled and they seemed to sit nicely even if there is a hell of a lot of twist needed at both ends of the planks.

Back in there tomorrow to glue up the keelson and the stems and scarf the first planks.

Cheers Dave

Monday 21 March Monday is definitely not our most popular day.
