As the 10am boat turnover time approached people started to drift in. JP was worried that I wasn’t going to talk to him after he had forgotten the meeting on Monday evening. A shirtless Dr John got out of his car with Archie. The shirt went on quickly when the wolf whistles started. Geoff B and his wife Joy, bearing cake, joined John B and Rovie. We had a quorum to lift boat 2 out onto the grass and turn it over.

Archie does a quick safety check as the boat goes over.

Over she goes.

An unwanted red backed guest had set up house in the stem protector.

Back in the shed ready for the internal paint job.

Dr John, John B, Peter K, JP, Geoff B and myself pose proudly.

We had Joy’s cake, Paul’s Hobnobs and my fruit pies (from the Hot Bread Shop) for morning tea. Peter K explained the rowing booking spreadsheet which is live on our website and we all had a go at accessing it on our phones. It wasn’t too hard.

Geoff and Joy had brought their very handsome Schnauzer in to meet us and Archie.

After morning tea, half the crew left four of us to wet sand the inside of the boat which we quickly realised we needed more wet and dry sandpaper for. I went down to Country Tools and Auto where JP had spotted a reasonable supply and got some. Peter told us how the dried resin coats have a film of water soluble blush on them that needs to be wet sanded off so the following coats of paint will stick.

Leaning the boat over really helps the accessibility for sanding.

When that was finished Paul finished painting the footrest and I put a second coat on the yellow stripe on the rudder. Then Paul had a go at shaping the oar cup he made last week while I had a shot at extending the coxes seat forward. This will require a bit of work which will unfortunately slow the painting down.

Have a good weekend.

Cheers Dave

Thursday 1 December Denmark Mobile Welding needed our boat on its trailer to measure up for the trolley which they were building today.
