I then measured the position I would like the boat to sit on the benches and adjusted the threaded supports to that position (400mm out from the roller and 220mm up from the cross member). Then as people began to arrive for the big lift I carved the sharp edges off the plastic slide bar that will centre the boat on the rollers, with the multitool. We had 10 people by the time came to lift the boat out and onto the trailer. It all went well and I was as amazed as anybody by how well it sat on the rollers and the benches. The only slight problem is the winch with its wire rope which doesn’t do the job of locking the boat into position.

Gathering our strength for the lift.

The lifting and boat building crew.

Supported by the dog crew (3 today)

After most people had left except Paul who was sanding the footrests, I took boat 1 around to Denmark Signworks for the name transfers. They had bought them in Albany yesterday but unfortunately one was smaller than the others which Paul hadn’t noticed when he pulled them out of a box.

When I got home there was a package at the front door containing the sleeves and collars for the oars. This is the last thing that I needed to get us rowing on Saturday.

Last resin coating tomorrow see you then.

Cheers Dave

Wednesday 2 November I got the the shed early to finish the trailer benches/stretchers with carpet held on with Tech screws.
